Description:
The Cherokee are represented by the dark stick figure on the right and the Colonial Virginians are represented by the open body figure on the left. The purple regions forming the ends of the belts are said to be representative of the territory each group holds. The purple wampum row connecting both figures is a link of friendship and good diplomacy. A belt of this nature was given to the Governor of Williamsburg on September 5, 1755, but has been lost. The design of this belt as shown was approved by the (Williamsburg?) committee in 2004 and given by John Rice.
